The Ethiopian Kale Heywet Church (about 12 million adult members) invited Canadian educators in 2017 to facilitate English training of educators in their colleges, school system, and Compassion projects.
The purpose of this particular training mission is to empower church pastors of children to use an activity based curriculum using the Story of the Good Samaritan and The Lost Son, to help develop functional English language literacy skills, develop a character of serving and caring for others, and develop a love of and hope in God. English is the global language of higher education, medicine and health care, business and finance, theology, African and International politics, and other important areas. The EKHC, our partner, considers learning English an important skill for their overall plan to send missionaries to other African countries and into all the world. Getting an early start in English is also a huge benefit to a child and can be a step out of poverty and into a more stable financial future for them and their family. The intensive one week training ministry this year will be held in the cities of Durame and Soddo. (One week in each city)
